If you work in the health care field you may be eligible for a sign-on bonus, retention bonus and monthly incentive pay. The following is a summary of some bonuses and who qualifies for them. While this list is limited, you should contact your retention officer for more details including a complete list of those specialties that offer accession or retention bonuses as well as incentive pay.

Obstetrics & Gynecology

Obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing Accession Bonus

Qualified obstetrics & gynecology nurses are eligible for a $40,000 bonus upon executing a four year initial obligation.

Optometry Officers

Optometry Officer Accession Bonus

Currently, optometry officers aren't eligible for an accession bonus.

Optometry Officer Retention Bonus

Optometry officers may be paid a retention bonus in the amount of:

  • $5,000 for a two year commitment
  • $8,000 for a three year commitment
  • $10,000 for a four year commitment

Optometry Officer Incentive Pay

Incentive pay is $1,200 annually.

Pharmacy Officers

Pharmacy Officer Accession Bonus

Qualified pharmacy officers are eligible for a $30,000 bonus upon executing a four year initial obligation.

Pharmacy Officer Retention Bonus

Pharmacy officers are eligible for up to a $15,000 bonus for a two year or greater obligation to extend their service.

Pharmacy Officer Incentive Pay

Currently, pharmacy officers aren't eligible for incentive pay.

Military Psychology Officers

Psychology Officer Accession Bonus

Currently, psychology officers aren't eligible for an accession bonus.

Psychology Officer Retention Bonus

  • $10,000 for a two year commitment
  • $15,000 for a three year commitment
  • $25,000 for a four year commitment
  • $40,000 for a six year commitment

Psychology Officer Incentive Pay

Incentive pay is $5,000 annually.

Physician Assistant

Physician Assistant Accession Bonus

Qualified physician assistant officers are eligible for a $37,500 bonus for a three year obligation or $60,000 for a four year initial obligation.

Physician Assistant Retention Bonus

  • $10,000 for a two year commitment
  • $15,000 for a three year commitment
  • $20,000 for a four year commitment
  • $35,000 for a six year commitment

Physician Assistant Incentive Pay

Incentive pay is $5,000 annually.

Preventive Medicine Veterinarians (Army)

Preventative Medicine Veterinarian Officer Accession Bonus

Currently, preventative medicine veterinarian officers are eligible for a $20,000 bonus for a four year initial obligation.

Preventative Medicine Veterinarian Officer Retention Bonus

Preventative medicine veterinarian officers may be paid a retention bonus in the amount of:

  • $5,000 for a two year commitment
  • $6,250 for a three year commitment
  • $7,000 for a four year commitment

Preventative Medicine Veterinarian Officer Incentive Pay

Preventative medicine veterinarian officers can receive $5,000 annual incentive pay.

Public Health Officer (Air Force)

Public Health Officer Accession Bonus

Public health officers are eligible for an accession bonus of $22,500 for a three year commitment or $40,000 for a four year commitment.

Public Health Officer Retention Bonus

Public health officers may be paid a retention bonus in the amount of:

  • $5,000 for a two year commitment
  • $6,250 for a three year commitment
  • $7,500 for a four year commitment

Public Health Officer Incentive Pay

Public health officers can receive $5,000 annual incentive pay.

Social Worker Officers

Social Worker Officer Accession Bonus

Social worker officers are eligible for an accession bonus of $18,750 for a three year commitment or $30,000 for a four year commitment.

Social Worker Officer Retention Bonus

Social worker officers may be paid a retention bonus in the amount of:

  • $5,000 for a two year commitment
  • $8,000 for a three year commitment
  • $10,000 for a four year commitment

Social Worker Officer Incentive Pay

Social workers are not eligible for incentive pay.

Veterinary Officers

Veterinary Officer Accession Bonus

Veterinary officers are eligible for an accession bonus of $20,000 for a four year commitment.

Veterinary Officer Retention Bonus

Veterinary officers may be paid a retention bonus in the amount of:

  • $2,500 for a two year commitment
  • $3,750 for a three year commitment
  • $5,000 for a four year commitment

Veterinary Officer Incentive Pay

Veterinary officers can receive $5,000 annual incentive pay.
