Built on what was once part of a Mexican commandante’s ranchero, MCAS Miramar was used by both the Navy and Marine Corps for advanced pilot training during World War II. After the war the Navy occupied the base for over 50 years, and Miramar grew into “Fightertown USA,” home to F-14 squadrons and “Topgun.”

Now MCAS Miramar is home to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, which is the aviation element of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. Today more than 12,200 Marines, Sailors and civilians called Miramar home. Welcome aboard!
