Communities across the country pull out all the stops to honor their veterans through a variety of programs and events. This list will be updated for 2023 as details become available.

Alabama

In Birmingham, the city's 75th National Veterans Day Parade kicks off at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, downtown. For details, click here.

Alaska

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will host a Veterans Day ceremony in Anchorage, Alaska, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Alaska National Guard armory on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Civilians must get a visitor's pass at the Visitor Control Center unless they register in advance Nov. 8-10 by calling (907) 552-6910 between the hours of 8-11 a.m. and noon-4 p.m. For general information about the event, call (907) 334-0874.

Arkansas

A Veterans Day Ceremony in Little Rock, Arkansas, begins at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. Click here for details.

Arizona

About 45,000 are expected to attend the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parade starts at Montebello and Central runs southbound, then turns East on Camelback Road, and then turns South on 7th Street. Click here for details.

Prescott, Arizona’s 2022 Veterans Day Parade will be downtown on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, with opening ceremonies beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the stage at Cortez and Union streets. The parade is set to begin at 11 a.m. Click here for details.

California

Heroes Hall at the Costa Mesa OC Fair & Event Center will host a community celebration on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, to recognize the contributions of veterans. The event will feature music and kids’ activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The project will feature a winding pathway, benches, lighting and new landscaping, including special plantings honoring Purple Heart recipients. The celebration is free, in partnership with Heroes Hall Veterans Foundation. Click here for details.

In Lincoln/Sheridan, California, a Veteran's Day Ceremony hosted by the American Legion Post 264 and VFW Post 3010 will take place Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at four cemeteries: Sheridan, Manzanita, Lincoln and Santa Clara Memorial Park. Color Guard and Rifle Squad honors will begin the day's events by visiting the graves of veterans at each cemetery. A service will be given at each location in remembrance of those who served. The schedule begins at 9 a.m. at Sheridan, 10 a.m. at Manzanita, and 11:30 a.m. at Lincoln; and the ceremonies end at Santa Clara Memorial Park. The largest ceremony is held at Lincoln's First Street Cemetery, with a guest speaker and choir singing patriotic songs. For details, view the Facebook event.

After a two-year hiatus, the San Fernando Valley Veterans Day Parade in Los Angeles will begin at 11:11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. The parade starts at Laurel Canyon Boulevard and San Fernando Mission Boulevard in Mission Hills, and then proceeds south on Laurel Canyon Boulevard for 1.1 miles to end on Paxton Street in Pacoima. The grand marshal is US Army Master Sgt. Charles O. Green. A carnival is also planned for Friday through Sunday, Nov. 11-13, from 2-10 p.m. each day. For details, click here.

The San Diego Veterans Day Parade takes place from 10 a.m.-noon Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, in the Embarcadero neighborhood downtown, with over 4,000 veterans, active duty, bands, gloats and civic groups. For details, click here.

Veterans of any era who served in any capacity are invited to speak about their experiences at a Vets Town Hall in San Diego, held at CrossFit Humanity beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022. The city of San Jose, California, will host its 104th consecutive Veterans Day Parade downtown on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, in honor of those who served in the armed forces of the United States. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and begins near the Santa Clara Street/Highway 87 exit. For more information, please visit the United Veterans Council of Santa Clara County website.

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, will host its annual Veterans Day Event on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities include an honor guard, live music, and remarks by keynote speaker and U.S. Army veteran Brad Taylor, a retired Special Forces lieutenant colonel and current bestselling author of the Pike Logan series. Outdoor events and the program are free, but reservations are recommended to attend the program. For details, click here. Separately on Friday, Nov. 11, the library's special exhibit, An American Christmas Story, opens. Veterans with valid ID will receive free admission to the museum on that day. Active military members with valid ID are always free.

Colorado

In Fruita, the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial celebration will be held Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, from 11 a.m.-noon. The focus of the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial is to honor those who served, in and out of the country and especially those who were killed, disabled, missing or taken prisoner.

Connecticut

In Montville, Connecticut, a Vets Rock event is planned for 1:30-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Mohegan Sun resort. After the opening ceremony from 1:30-2 p.m., the Vets Rock Expo will be held from 2-6 p.m. in the Uncas Ballroom. The Expo includes a career and educational fair, information from veteran service organizations, and more. Click here for details.

Delaware

The City of New Haven Veterans Day Ceremony is planned for 11 a.m.-noon Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at City Hall, 165 Church Street. Former Army Captain and Yale Veterans Association President Adrian Bonemberger will be the principal speaker. Afterward, commemorative wreaths will be placed at the World War Memorial on the Green and at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Long Wharf Drive. Additional details are here.

Florida

The Jacksonville, Florida, Veterans Day Parade, one of the largest in the Southeast, begins at 11:01 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, downtown. The event includes grand marshals, senior military officials, active-duty and retired military, veterans groups, local high school marching bands, decorative floats, giant balloons, JROTC units and more. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and his Veterans Advisory Council will honor the courageous men and women of the armed forces at the 23rd annual City of Orlando Veterans Day Parade downtown from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022. This year’s parade will open with a tribute to those who have fought for our country and defended our freedom, led by Mayor Dyer and local veterans. The parade's theme is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAACs) and Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVEs). For details, click here.

The Wellington, Florida, Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony begins at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Wellington Patriot Memorial. The city, along with the American Legion Post 390 – Wellington will honor current and former members of the armed forces. Veterans are invited to walk in the parade beginning at 8:15 a.m. at Wellington’s Village Hall, 12300 Forest Hill Boulevard. Georgia

The Georgia Veterans Day Association will present the 41st Annual Georgia Veterans Day Parade and Observance Ceremony at The Battery Atlanta from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022. The Observance Ceremony begins at noon on the Georgia Power Pavilion Stage with military and veteran speakers and a performance from the 116th Army Band. Hawaii

In Honolulu, a Veterans Day Ceremony is planned for noon-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at 2177 Puowaina Drive. The Oahu Veterans Council is sponsoring the event, which is expected to draw 600 people. The guest speaker will be from the U.S. Marine Corps Forces in the Pacific.

The Pearl Harbor Veterans Day Sunset Ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, in Honolulu aboard the Battleship Missouri Memorial, with a special tribute to the legacy of Senator Daniel K. Inouye, as well as the 160th anniversary of the Medal of Honor. Click here for details.

Idaho

The public is invited to attend a Veterans Day Ceremony in Meridian from 11-11:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Rock of Honor Veterans Memorial at Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park. Seating is limited for this outdoor ceremony, so consider bringing a folding chair or blanket. Presented by Meridian's American Legion Post 113, VFW Post 4000, and the City of Meridian.

Illinois

Chicago’s Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at Soldier Field, Gate O, 1410 S. Special Olympics Drive. Doors open at 10 a.m. For details, click here.

Indiana

The Indianapolis Veterans Day Parade is on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at noon, starting at Michigan & Pennsylvania streets. Also planned on the day are a ticketed Veterans Day Breakfast from 8-10 a.m. at the Indiana War Memorial; and a Veterans Day Service on the north steps of the Indiana War Memorial from 11 a.m.-noon with a musical prelude at 10:30 a.m. Click here for details.

A Veterans Day Ceremony in West Lafayette, Indiana, will take place at the Indiana Veterans Home at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, in the MacArthur Auditorium, 3851 N. River Road. Click here for details.

Iowa

In Clinton, a Veterans Day Flag Retirement Ceremony is scheduled for 4:30-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at Amvets Post #28. Dinner is free for all veterans and active duty military members. All others may dine for a donation of your choice. Click here for details.

Kansas

The Emporia Veterans Day Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, and runs along Commercial Street from 4th to 12th avenues. At 11 a.m., a Veterans Day Memorial Service will be held at All Veterans Memorial. These are among several events planned for the city’s All Veterans Tribute Week from Nov. 1-11. Kentucky

In Nicholasville, Kentucky, a Veterans Day Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6980 Danville Road. The Central Kentucky Veterans Committee is sponsoring the event, which is expected to draw 1,000 people. Retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Howard P. Hunt III will be the guest speaker.

Louisiana

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans will premiere an outdoor multimedia experience, "Expressions of America" on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. Actor Gary Sinise hosts the program, which highlights the impact that individuals had during a time of war. The presentation will take place outdoors on the Col. Battle Barksdale Parade Ground and will use projection mapping of the museum's buildings alongside multimedia technology to feature wartime letters and oral histories. Click here for details.

Maine

The Biddeford Saco Veterans Day Parade will begin in front of Saco City Hall at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, and proceed down Main Street to Biddeford, ending at Veterans Memorial Park. This year's event will recognize the 25th Anniversary of the Military Women's Memorial. The guest speaker is retired Col. Jen Fullmer, of the U.S. Air Force; and the grand marshal is Pam Payeur of the Wounded Heroes Program of Maine. Click here for details.

Maryland

In Baltimore, the Native American Indigenous Veteran Day Celebration will honor our native veterans from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at the Baltimore American Indian Center. The public is invited to join for refreshments, free haircuts and fellowship. Click here for details.

Massachusetts

The Worcester Jewish Community Center will host a Veterans Day Tribute in Worcester, Massachusetts, from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022. The free event, open to the public, is co-sponsored by the JWV Post 32 and Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts. Refreshments will be provided following a 45-minute formal ceremony. RSVP here.

Michigan

In Jackson, a Veterans Day Celebration is planned for 10:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at Withington Park. Click here for details.

Minnesota

The State of Minnesota Veterans Day will be back in person this year on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights. The event will kick off with a free community breakfast starting at 8:30 a.m. The official program will start at 10 a.m. featuring remarks from elected officials. Click here for details.

Mississippi

In Bay St Louis, the Sam C Ladner Memorial VFW Veterans Day 5K runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at the Silver Slipper Casino Hotel with tickets starting at $25. It ends at the VFW Post 4808 for the finish line party with awards, food and drinks, and live bands. All proceeds go to feed and clothe homeless veterans. Click here for details.

Missouri

Join the St. Peters Veterans Memorial Commission at St. Peters’ annual Veterans Day Ceremony from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Veterans Memorial adjacent to St. Peters City Hall. Refreshments will be served inside City Hall after the ceremony. Click here for more.

Montana

In Missoula, a Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, will begin with a free breakfast from 8-11 a.m. at the Ole Beck VFW Post 209. Willy's Whiskey Tasting will be from 1-2 p.m., then a free potluck and silent auction, with free raffle tickets for veterans, from 5-7 p.m. At 8 p.m., live music will begin. The celebration, co-hosted by Clark Fork Entertainment and Jaden Decker, is free and open to the public and will include hourly raffles and a silent auction. Click here for details.

Nebraska

Nebraska’s Official Veterans Parade will begin on Mission Avenue in Bellevue at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022. The event, originally set for Nov. 5, was postponed due to weather. It was set to include an Air Force flyover, military formations, first responders, local school bands and JROTC units, elected officials and other veteran-supporting organizations. Nevada

The Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, with the route beginning at 4th Street & Gass Street and ending at 4th & Stewart Avenue. The parade is followed by the Las Vegas Veterans Day Ceremony at 1:30 p.m. at the Nevada State Veterans Memorial, located outside the Grant Sawyer Building. Click here for details.

New Hampshire

A free concert by New Hampshire’s 39th Army Band will be offered at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Chubb Theatre in Concord. The 90-minute audio visual experience will include a variety of genres including rock, country, pop, jazz, and patriotic classics. Click here for details.

New Jersey

In Holmdel, New Jersey’s official Veterans Day Ceremony will be held inside the Vietnam Era Museum from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. The museum will be open before and after the ceremony (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) so visitors may view the exhibit “There & Back: The Journey to Vietnam and Home.” The exhibition offers an intimate look at the emotional bonds between service members and flight attendants during their trans-pacific journeys home.

New Mexico

In Rio Rancho, the Veterans Day Parade kicks off at 10 a.m. rain or shine on Southern Boulevard. Immediately following the parade, participants and spectators can take part in a special Veterans Day Ceremony starting at 11 a.m. at Veterans Monument Park (adjacent to Esther Bone Memorial Library). New York

The nation’s largest Veterans Day event, the New York City Veterans Day Parade hosted by the United War Veterans Council, returns for its 103rd year with nearly 20,000 participants from across the U.S. marching up Fifth Avenue. The event, which will take place rain or shine from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, will be livestreamed on WABC-TV and on Military.com. For more information, visit nycvetsday.org.

North Carolina

In Charlotte, the Carolinas Veterans Day Festival runs 2-8 p.m. at the American Legion Memorial Stadium on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. This free and open-to-the-public celebration will be an interactive day of shopping and fellowship, capped by a concert presented by Truist featuring Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Elle King. King will take the stage at 7 p.m. and perform until 8 p.m. While admission is free, space is limited. Click here for details.

Remembrance Day in Durham is planned for Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial site at Edison Johnson Recreation Center. Join local veterans and friends to remember and honor the men and women who fought for our country. Click here for details.

The Raleigh Veteran's Day Ceremony and Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. for the ceremony and 11 a.m. for the parade on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. The parade starts at the north side of the Capitol Building downtown. Click here for details.

North Dakota

In Grand Forks, a Veterans Day Ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the University of North Dakota’s Gorecki Alumni Center will include refreshments and speakers. Click here for details.

Ohio

The Pro Football Hall of Fame is hosting the inaugural “Heroes Gala: A Love Letter to Veterans” event in Canton, Ohio, on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, beginning at 6 p.m. The black-tie optional gathering, hosted by Pro Football Hall of Famer Franco Harris, will raise money for the Legacy of Honor and The Pat Tillman Foundation. Tickets start at $250. Linda DeHoff, co-author of "Open This Letter in Ten Years: Life Lessons from Dad’s Love Letters," and Marie Tillman, author of "The Letter: My Journey Through Love, Loss and Life," will take part in a special roundtable about their experiences as family members of those who served and the letters they sent. Ohio

In Middletown, the 6th annual Veterans Day Parade starts at Smith Park at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, with a moment of silence, then steps off at 11:15 a.m. and ends at the Middletown Ohio Veterans Memorial just inside the gates of Woodside Cemetery. Click here for details.

Oklahoma

The 104th Annual Tulsa Veterans Day Parade starts at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. The televised event is organized by VFW Post 577. Find more information here.

Oregon

The Portland Veterans Day Parade starts at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at NE Beech Street and NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Those wishing to join a closing ceremony are invited to meet at the Natural Grocers parking lot at 5055 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Click here for more information.

Pennsylvania

The Pittsburgh Veterans Day Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the intersection of 10th and Liberty Avenue and will proceed along Liberty. This year’s parade theme is “Honoring a New Generation of Warriors”. Click here for more information.

Rhode Island

In Warwick, a Veterans Day Parade begins at the intersection of Main Street and High Street at 11:11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, hosted by the Warwick Valley VFW Post 4662. South Carolina

The city of Columbia’s 44th Annual Veteran’s Day Parade will be 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. One of the Southeast’s largest Veterans Day parades, its grand marshals this year are representatives from the Women Veterans of SC and USC Military & Veterans Program. Click here for details.

South Dakota

In Sioux Falls, a Veterans Day program begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance, Inc. The event features Sen. Mike Rounds as the keynote speaker; a mass colors presentation of flags from various military, veterans, and service and civic club organizations in Sioux Falls; and a performance by the Legion Chorus of American Legion Post 15. Tennessee

Knoxville's 97th Veteran's Day Parade will begin at 10:40 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium and Coliseum, sponsored by American Legion Post 2. Click here for details.

Texas

The Austin, Texas, Veterans' Day Parade is returning for an in-person event for 2022. It’s scheduled for 9-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. The route begins at East Cesar Chavez Street and Congress Avenue downtown, and ends on East 11th Street (view the route map here). For general parade details, click here.

The Tarrant County Veterans Day Parade in Fort Worth, with the theme “Saluting Buffalo Soldiers,” begins Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. The grand marshal is Maj. Gen. Anthony Woods, commander of the Texas State Guard headquartered at Camp Mabry in Austin. For details, click here.

U.S. military veterans get free entry to The American VetFest celebration in Fort Worth’s Texas Motor Speedway from Nov. 10-13, 2022. Musical guests CJ Garton, Creed Fisher, and the Teague Brothers Band will perform Saturday, Nov. 12. The four-day event will also include a battle of the bands, a Field of Flags, veterans service groups, vendor and exhibitor booths, military and civilian vehicle shows, food trucks, and a Heroes sports zone. The National Museum of the Pacific War resumes an in-person Veterans Day Program in Fredericksburg, Texas, this year with a free program from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, in the Memorial Courtyard. Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Oates, an Army veteran, will be the speaker. Click here for event details.

The annual “Houston Salutes American Heroes Veterans Day Celebration” is planned for Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m near City Hall, 900 Bagby. The ceremony will begin with acknowledgements and a distinguished keynote speaker recognizing local heroes. At the 11th hour on the 11th day, there will be a moment of silence in memory of the 104th anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended WWI. The American Heroes Parade will begin at 11:30 A.M. at Dallas and Bagby and will proceed east on Dallas, north on Louisiana, west on Walker, south on Smith, west on Lamar, ending on Lamar at Bagby. The U.S. Military Veterans Parade Association is hosting a Veterans Parade in San Antonio beginning at noon Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at Avenue E and 4th Street. For details, click here.

Utah

In Orem, the Celebration of Veterans 2022 runs from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at SCERA Center for the Arts. The free event featuring musical and patriotic presentations, a keynote speaker, parade of service flags and more requires no tickets or reservations. The Orem Heritage Museum, which has a room filled with military and veterans displays, will also be open for free tours after the event

Vermont

In Pittsford, a Veterans Day Ceremony and Veterans Wall Dedication will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Pittsford Municipal Offices. See more details here.

The Chesapeake Veterans Day Celebration will be at Chesapeake City Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. Click here for more.

In Richmond, the 66th annual Commonwealth’s Veterans Day Ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Virginia War Memorial. The program includes guest speakers, patriotic music, and recognition of the winners of the Virginia War Memorial’s Veterans Day Student Essay Contest. The ceremony will be held in the Virginia War Memorial’s E. Bruce Heilman Amphitheater, rain or shine. It will also be livestreamed here and on the Virginia War Memorial’s Facebook page.

In Virginia Beach, the Tidewater Veterans Day Parade begins at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on Atlantic Avenue. A Veterans Day Ceremony follows at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial, and then a luncheon at noon honoring veterans at the DoubleTree Hotel. Click here for details.

The 69th annual National Veterans Day Observance at at Arlington National Cemetery begins at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, and will be live-streamed at this link. A prelude by The United States Navy Band and Sea Chanters will begin in the cemetery’s Memorial Amphitheater at 10:30 a.m. Attendance at the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns will be limited to official participants only. The wreath-laying will be followed by an observance program in the Memorial Amphitheater. Seating for this portion of the observance program will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Vietnam Veterans Memorial: 40th Anniversary Celebration

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., will host a Veterans Day Observance at The Wall from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. Fort Belvoir, Virginia: National Museum of the United States Army
